I never know what odd requests and projects I might get from the lawyers in our firm. What started as a pitch to a potential client has turned into follow-up "gifts" (and I do mean to use quotation marks when I say gifts) for the soon-to-be clients. I was laughing at the situation until I saw the suggested recipients. I mean, that family has got to be rethinking their search more than I did mine...

Happy 30th, Lyds!

Lydia, Gina and I all met while we were interning for the Mavericks and quickly became friends. Fast forward to today and the three of us went to Mi Cocina to celebrate Lydia's birthday.
Happy Birthday, Lydia!!! Hope the big 3-0 is the best yet!

Family Fun
My parents and grandparents came in town this past weekend for Easter. We started off with the Mavs game on Friday night, where my grandparents got to sit front row! Thanks, Gina! Great game and the Mavs won!
Saturday morning we got up and had breakfast at John's Cafe. Yum, I'll take any excuse to go there. Then it was off to the Arboretum for Dallas Blooms. There wasn't enough room for all of us on the tram and guided tour, so Benton, Bobby, Mary and I took a slightly different tour. And saw a few flowers along the way. These pictures probably won't entertain anyone as much as they did us, but here they are...
Senior pictures?
We had to wait for some little kids to leave the deers alone. Seriously, let the adults take their picture.
more Senior pics?

Score one for me
me: Boss, can I have three days off in April? I'd like to take a trip to Boston.
boss: That's right before the new website launches and you'll probably have a lot of work to do that week. Ask _________.
me: Boss's boss, can I have three days off in April? I will bring my computer with me and work on anything that comes up.
boss's boss: The launch date was actually moved up, but thank you so much for your willingness to spend time on your vacation to handle it. Such a team player.
me: :)
So, one month from now I'll be back in Boston! And if all goes as planned, we will be walking--yes, walking--the Boston Marathon. Better start the training this weekend. My car definitely gets more miles than my tennis shoes in Dallas...
*Just to clarify...there is not a walking portion of the Boston Marathon and we definitely did not qualify. We will be "bandit" runners--or in our case, walkers--according to the website. But we promise to bring our own water and supplies and I will do everything in my power not to use the port-a-potties along the route. :)

When B&B's Go Bad
So, my blog has become less of an update on my life and more of a rant of my dislikes. And while this is not exactly a positive post, hopefully it will provide a laugh for you and provide me with a post other than how the recession sucks.
My parents and grandparents are coming to visit Easter weekend and I was being the good daughter/granddaughter and searching for hotels for them. I thought they would really love to stay at a bed & breakfast and started googling options.
And came across this.
I immediately had to email Lydia because she and Tim have decided that *someday* they would like to own a bed & breakfast. I think Lydia is taking notes right now and she even mentioned that Amelia will be an inspiration to her.
I mean, yes, she's an inspiration. But does she think that first picture is going to entice you to stay there? Amelia, take off the Birkenstocks and stretchy shorts and maybe dress up a little for your big debut. And maybe make sure you're not standing in front of ghetto cars. Oh, and maybe make sure your B&B is not an apartment on a sketchy street.

Recession Sucks
Another round of layoffs.
I know that so many people have been laid off in recent months, but this time it affected people I knew. Hopefully things will start to pick up soon?
I don't get political on my blog too often; mainly because I don't like talking politics in my real life, so why on my blog? So don't shoot the messenger. I believe in the direction President Obama is leading our country and I know that eventually the economy has to turn around. But how is $13 a paycheck going to help?

Save money...buy Uggs?

There are so many articles out right now about how to save money and prepare for hard times in this recession. But this one just ends up being funny.
Apparently, to save money, you should go out and invest $180 in some Uggs. Now, they do advise buying Uggs versus Manolos. And while that move could save you over $500, I think it's ridiculous that Uggs are not seen as "conspicuous consumption."
*In full disclosure, I hate Uggs almost as much as I hate Crocs. It's OK, I wear flip flops nine days out of ten; feel free to judge me. :)
